Central Michigan University students can test their trivia knowledge at an event hosted by Program Board from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 in the French Auditorium.

The event is based on the TV show "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" which first aired in 2007 and was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy. In it, adult contestants competed alongside school-age children to answer questions from elementary school textbooks.

Categories will include art, math, social studies, science and language arts.

Muskegon senior Coy Lakatos, with Program Board, organized the trivia night. She said many of the questions are borrowed from the show, but there will not be minors taking part in the game. She said she has also come up with her own questions.

"This is my first event I'm hosting for Program Board, so I'm really excited," Lakatos said. "I'm excited for everyone to be back at school and I think this event will be really fun."

All CMU students are welcome to attend the free event and can bring guests. Lakatos said prizes will be awarded to trivia winners, including gift cards to the CMU Bookstore, backpacks and other back-to-school items.
