Students gather at the LGBTQ+ Holiday Mixer, Tuesday, Dec. 6, in CSID.

Central Michigan University LGBTQ Services and Gender Equity Programs is to host an LGBTQ+ summit. The Summit takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 at the Bovee University Center Terrace rooms.

According to Engage Central, it is an opportunity for queer and trans students to come together in order to build relationships across diverse organizations and create a vision of how they want to be seen at CMU.

Teagan Wertz, a CMU senior, is an assistant for LGBTQ Services and Gender Equity Programs Office. Wertz said the summit is for LGBTQ+ students to get together, discuss the future of campus and issues they want to fix.

Wertz said in this summit LGBTQ+ students will decide what vision of themselves they want to present and CMU to see and what changes within the student body need to be worked on this semester. She said it is a good opportunity to talk about future plans and “be on the same page”.

Wertz said the event will provide free snacks and drinks. All students are welcome, not just LGBTQ+ students.

Those interested in attending can register at the Engage Central
