Men About Change, a male mentoring program created by Central Michigan University’s Multicultural Academic Student Services, will be meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m on Feb. 13 in Pearce Hall 137.

Teaming with its sister program, Women's Initiative of Strength and Hope (WISH), and members of Black Girls Rock and Black Males Rock, Men About Change was able to make the workshop possible with the help of CMU’s Career Development Center, according to Engage Central.

“Our next meeting (the workshop) is actually going to be a collaborative event with a few different RSOs and our sister organization, WISH, to talk about resume building and cover letters, so we can get ready for the multicultural fair next week,” Men About Change Program Director Eric Pouncil said.

According to cmich.edu Men About Change provides men at CMU with the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, obtain professional and academic guidance and prepare them to assist other young men to do the same.

Open to all, Men About Change’s main initiative is to prepare men to be resources to their communities once they leave campus. According to cmich.edu, Men About Change plans to revamp culture on campus and in the community through ”involvement and personal developement,” by having events such as group speakers, one-on-one or small group mentoring and other informational gatherings.

“The legacy I want to leave for Men About Change is to have genuine and authentic relationships with each other, so that when we graduate, it's not just I went to CMU, but these are the brothers that made here,” Pouncil said.

Those planning to attend the event must RSVP here.
