Central Michigan University’s Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) is scheduled to host an event called Women Throughout Black History, starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Health Professions Building Room 1020.

According to Engage Central, this hour-long educational event highlights Black women throughout history and their inventions and advances in modern-day technology. Representatives of the CPC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) council will put on the event.

CMU’s Collegiate Panhellenic Council is the local governing body that oversees the 11 NPC (National Panhellenic Council) sororities on campus, according to its cmich.edu page. CPC provides opportunities to give back to the city, campus and community to which they belong and enhances the college experience for women through sisterhood and personal development.

According to cmich.edu, designated representatives from each college, department, vice presidential unit, Student Government Association and Professional and Administrative assembly form CMU’s DEI council. Each department is responsible for at least three initiatives they will pursue in the academic year that illustrate their commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
