Indigenous Food Station and Food Sovereignty with Chef Sam Anglin

Chef Sam Anglin of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is hosting an Indigenous Food Station and Food Sovereignty event where guests can experience and learn about traditional Native American meals. The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Eatery of the Towers Complex. 

Attendees may create and enjoy their own indigenous food bowl. Anglin, is passionate and knowledgeable about ancestral Native American cuisine. 

Colleen Green is the director of Indigenous Affairs at Central Michigan University. 

“I personally feel students learn to appreciate other cultures through food," Green said "There will be a food demonstration and interactive opportunities to discuss how Indigenous food shaped our culture and community.” 

Admission is $12.25 but students with a meal plan can use a meal pass instead. 

If they don’t have a meal plan or pass, WCMU has pre-purchased a few tickets. 

The event is sponsored by WCMU, CMU Office of Indigenous Affairs, PBS and Chartwell.
