Central Michigan Life introduces newsletter to launch in the spring

From the shores of South India or a family kitchen filled with the smell of rich enchiladas, students from different cultures bring these experiences to Central Michigan University.
For all the student populations, Central Michigan Life for the first time is launching a Multicultural Student Newsletter.
The Multicultural Student Newsletter will feature stories of students from different cultures for every student to learn more about other cultures and step out of their comfort zone.
Starting in the spring 2024 semester, the Multicultural Student Newsletter will also be offered in the most used languages of international students on campus.
International students on the CM Life staff have been recalling finding a piece of their culture in traditional food and native language when travelling around the Unites States, but then lacking that feeling of home in Mount Pleasant.
I myself came to the heart of the mitten on a 12-hour flight with vyshyvankas, traditional shirts, in a suitcase and Ukrainian songs on my playlist. For me, I found my second home at CM Life.
In the fall of 2023, CMU enrolled 1,734 international and 2,668 BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) students, according to CMU’s most recent data.
But we are not just a number. Each of us is a person, with our own story, with our own culture and with our own everyday battle against homesickness.
We see you.
We see that our campus is blooming in events that our students and Multicultural Academic Student Services organize to share their culture.
We see your mind-blowing accomplishments that you make every day: from an A-plus on your English essays to the first international student being CMU Maroon Ambassador.
We see you and we see your struggles.
At CM Life, we want to hear your stories. We want to recognize you and we want you to take a stand.
The Multicultural Student Newsletter is your place to have your voice and your story heard.
We want this newsletter to be your escape to home and a resource, something you know, something written by your friends and about your culture.
Something you pick up from the CM Life racks and get the feeling of home.
