A Clare man is being held in Isabella County Jail on $100,000 bond, on charges he allegedly used a computer to view sexually abusive images of children.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested David Kenneth Myers, 53, on charges of aggravated child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime. He was booked into the county jail on July 23, jail records show, and arraigned Friday, July 25.

Myers is next due in court Aug. 7 for a probable cause conference, according to Isabella County court records.

If convicted of the most serious charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison, under the Michigan criminal code

The investigation began with a report that Myers was allegedly looking at sexually abusive images of children online, according to a press release issued by the Michigan State Police. Officers seized digital evidence before making the arrest, the press release reported.

“The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet,” the agency wrote in a statement. “There are many resources available to assist in keeping children safe online.”

Among them, the press release cites the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force website

Anyone with information related to possible child sexual exploitation is asked to report it to the CyberTipLine.
