One minute and 40 seconds into the third quarter, Appalachian’s senior midfield Samantha Connors shoots and scores, with an assist from senior midfield Lise Boekaar.

Central Michigan field hockey, still with zero points on the board, struggled to get past Appalachian’s tough offense.

Just three minutes later, the Mountaineers' senior forward Kate Richardson scored her fourth goal of the season, with an assist from junior midfield Kassie Paul.

Appalachian State dominated the game, by keeping the ball on its offense for most of the game.

The Chippewas graduate goalkeeper Ashley Cogger stayed resilient throughout the game, with 21 shots faced, 12 saves and only three goals allowed. On the other side, the Mountaineers graduate goalkeeper Claire Grenis had only two shots faced and one save.

Just about one minute into the fourth quarter, Richardson scored her second goal in the game. Senior midfield/forward Bridget Donovan assisted Richardson.

CMU had nine fouls throughout the game, and one green card on senior forward Mallory Camryn.

CMU head coach Jennifer Johnstone declined to comment on the game.

The Chippewas are on the road again for another MAC game on Oct. 17th against Miami (Ohio).
