Former congressman Dan Kildee to open Conversations that Matter

Former United States Congressman Dan Kildee will be attending Conversations that Matter and opening the event with a presentation about his experience in Congress and the leadership roles he fulfilled during that time. Kildee also worked as the Robert and Marjorie Griffin Endowed Chair in American Politics at CMU.

Conversations that Matter is a dinner event at Central Michigan University, which gives an opportunity to share insights and engage in group discussions with fellow attendees. The event will be held at the Grawn Hall Atrium on October 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“Attendees sit at tables with trained facilitators and receive three thought-provoking questions to discuss.” Nikita Murry, director of the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement, said.

The goal of the event is to have attendees approaching discussion questions with critical thinking skills, communication skills to build relationships and connecting through societal events and experiences.

After table discussions, attendees will gather back as a large group to talk over different viewpoints and evaluate the questions together.

Murry explained that the event aims to provide meaningful exchanges and to provide a chance to express ideas and have them challenged alongside others.

Conversations that Matter requires registration for all CMU faculty, student and staff.
