Tuesday afternoon, Central Michigan University Athletic Director Amy Folan announced that the school will be parting ways with head field hockey coach Jennifer Johnstone.

"I want to thank Coach Johnstone for her dedication to our student-athletes, the university, and Mount Pleasant community during her four seasons of service at Central Michigan University," Folan said in a press release to CMU Athletics. "At this time, I have determined that we need to go in a different direction with our field hockey program.

"I am confident that with our program's history of success, our commitment to field hockey, and our track record of developing female student-athletes will attract a high-caliber candidate pool."

The announcement follows the conclusion of the season, during which CMU went 10-9 overall, with a 4-5 record in Mid-American Conference play.

Throughout Johnstone's four seasons at Central Michigan, the Chippewas compiled a 16-55 overall record and a Mid-American Conference record of 4-26.

Joel Welsh, Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance, will lead the program in the interim position until a new head coach is appointed.
