CMU Soccer head coach Jeremy Groves questions the referee on a call during a game against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, in the Multipurpose Complex. This was Groves fifth season as head coach.
Monday morning, Central Michigan University Athletic Director Amy Folan announced that the school would be parting ways with women’s soccer head coach Jeremy Groves.
“At this time, I have determined that we need to go in a different direction with our women's soccer program,” Folan said in the press release from CMU Athletics. “I am confident that with our program's history of success, our commitment to women's soccer and our track record of developing female student-athletes will attract a high-caliber candidate pool."
The announcement follows the conclusion of the season, during which CMU went 1-14-3, with a 1-8-3 record in Mid-American Conference play.
Throughout Groves's seven seasons at Central Michigan, the Chippewas compiled an overall record of 31-59-24 and a Mid-American Conference record of 21-38-17, with just two appearances in the conference tournament.
Keyton Wheelock, the current assistant coach, will be the interim coach until a successor is chosen.
