Christian Dunn, the Student Government Association's former chief of staff, was elected as the treasurer in a 61% vote.

The previous SGA's treasurer and speaker of the house stepped down due to academic scheduling conflicts, said Dunn.

During the Jan 12. meeting, SGA had a special election. According to a statement, Dunn and freshman student Aiden Partenio showed interest in the treasurer position.

“I was serving on the SBAC committee already, and so I’ve also been in student government all four years,” Dunn said. “I know what to do, I know the job.”

He said that as treasurer, he hopes to consult with the Student Budget Allocation Committee on the internal roles and host orientations on how to apply for SBAC funding.

“Hopefully, getting more SBAC applications, we have a lot of money left over,” Dunn said about changes that SGA hopes to see this semester. “We still have $41,500 in our project portfolio.”

Partenio also expressed interest in the Senator of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Senate representative for the Student Budget Allocations Committee, and he was elected for both.

A statement by SGA stated that the elections director, Carson Cooley, learned about the vacant positions on the board at the first meeting of the semester on Jan. 12.

The vacant positions were:

  • Treasurer
  • Senate representative of the SBAC
  • Senate Leader
  • Senator of the CLASS
  • Speaker of the House

The Chief of Staff position is vacant due to Dunn being elected as treasurer, and he will serve until the yearly executive elections at the end of the semester.

Elections will take place for the Speaker of the House, Senate Leader and Chief of Staff at the next SGA meeting on Jan. 26
