Program board hosts magician Kevin Li on Monday, Jan. 23 in the Plachta Auditorium in Warriner Mall. Li's performance invited many audience members on stage throughout the performance to participate in his tricks.

GALLERY: Soup and Substance: Antisemitism in the US

Hillel at CMU hosts Soup & Substance - Antisemitism in the U.S. where people can enjoy some Matzo Ball Soup and listen to a conversation on Antisemitism from Hillel International speaker, Maddi Jackson, Monday, Jan 23, in the UC Rotunda. This event is a part of the Jewish Heritage Week, with more events occurring from Jan 23 - Jan 27.

For the start of the new semester, students arrive from all over the world. To make friends and connections they gather at the welcoming event on Jan., 21 at the Bovee Univerisity Center.

GALLERY: Gymnastics vs NIU

The Central Michigan University Gymnastics Team wins against the Northern Illinois Huskies with a score of 195.425 to 193.600, Saturday, Jan 21, in McGuirk Arena. This event was also a part of the CMU Gymnastics promotional events where kids were able to get in for free and had face painting and a bow-making station.  

GALLERY: MLK Week Charity Basketball Game

Multicultural Academic Student Services hosts the CommUNITY MLK Charity Basketball game, Friday, Jan. 20th, in the Student Activity Center. The game was students against staff, and staff won with a score of 49-43. Spectators were encouraged to bring items to donate to the CMU Student Food Pantry. 

GALLERY: From Myth to Man

The Office of Multicultural Academic Student Services and the Department of Theater and Dance host Ira Knight's One-Man Stage Play "From Myth to Man" for Martin Luther King Jr. Week, which recognizes the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Bush Theater. This play stars John Ivey and has been performed for 7 years.  

GALLERY: Men's Basketball vs Akron

The CMU Chippewas men's basketball team took a 69-51 loss to Akron on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas drop to 2-3 in the MAC and 5-3 at home.

GALLERY: Feminista Jones

The Office of Multicultural Student Services hosts award-winning writer, activist, and social worker Feminista Jones as part of MLK week Tuesday, Jan. 17 in French Auditorium. Jones spoke on Dr. King's legacy of radical activism. "The activism isn't just when you have the free time, it's not just when you won't get in trouble. Its about being a disruptor. And that's what Dr. King was," Jones said in her speech.

GALLERY: MLK CommUNITY Peace March & Vigil

The Office of Multicultural Academic Student Services hosts a CommUNITY Peace March & Vigil in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday, Jan. 16, across CMU's campus and into downtown Mt. Pleasant. Students and community members marched to honor Dr. King's legacy, and the event concluded with speeches given by runner-ups for the MLK Oratorical Conest.

CMU North American Indigenous Student Organization hosts an Inaugural Round Dance Saturday, Jan. 14 in the Bovee University Center. Round dance is a ceremony that was originally used to bring healing after the loss of a loved one, and has been adopted into the Anishinaabe way of life. 

GALLERY: Men's Basketball vs Buffalo

CMU's men's basketball team beat Buffalo 87-78 in overtime Saturday, Jan. 14 in McGuirk Arena. The win makes the team 2-2 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

GALLERY: Wrestling vs NIU

The CMU wrestling team defeats Northern Illinois University 23-18 Friday, Jan. 13 in McGuirk Arena. The win is the team's first of the season.

Ponder Coffee opens fourth location

Mount Pleasant's Ponder Coffee welcomed students to a new location this week. The café inside the Health Professions Building is the company's fourth. 

New Years Eve from Indianapolis

The Indiana State Museum hosts its Family New Years Eve party Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, in Indianapolis, Ind. The event featured a dance floor, face painting, an indoor train ride, and many other activities for attendees as they rang in the new year.

GALLERY: CMU Showcase

CMU gymnastics hosts the CMU showcase to show the team off to the fans Saturday, Jan 7, in McGuirk Arena. The gymnastics team is projected to repeat their victory as MAC champions this year.

GALLERY: Men's Basketball vs Michigan

CMU's men's basketball team defeated Michigan 63-61 on Thursday, Dec. 29 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. This is CMU's first win in Ann Arbor since 2007 and the twenty-sixth time the two teams played each other. 

GALLERY: Late Night Breakfast

CMU Student Activities hosts a Late Night Pre-Finals Breakfast Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Bovee University Center. The event included a pancake bar, breakfast taco bar, and a donut wall for students to enjoy. With finals week beginning on Monday, the event gave students a place to de-stress, socialize, and study.
