Earth Awareness Community Cleanup
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe hosted an Earth Awareness Community Cleanup at Broadway Park, Friday, April 17, 2026. Almost 30 volunteers came to help clean up the SCIT Reservation and Mill Pond park. The tribe partnered with the city of Mount Pleasant to make the clean up more wide spread and involve the community more than in recent years. "We are really trying to build up that relationship more between the tribe and the city and I have always wanted to get the tribe more involved with the city so the environmental realm is definitely where it's at to do that." Mount Pleasant City Sustainability Coordinator Mason Squillets-Peterson said. The clean up was followed by lunch at the pavilion in Broadway Park. The tribe Environmental Outreach Coordinator Katy Hager organizes two of these clean up events every year.
