Senior guard Jessica Green dribbles past a Kentucky opponent during the Chippewas

For the second time during her career as a member of the Central Michigan University women's basketball team, senior point guard Jessica Green has suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Green tore the ACL in her right knee during the Chippewas 98-89 loss to Dayton on Dec. 31. She will not return this season.

Green tore her ACL once before in 2012, which led to her being shut down for the rest of her sophomore season. The Chippewas went on to claim a Mid-American Conference title in Cleveland, Ohio that year.

Last season, Green's four-year teammate and fellow standout guard Crystal Bradford suffered a torn PCL in practice the day Bradford learned she had been named the MAC Player of the Year.

Before CMU's 2015 MAC opener against Kent State, Bradford honored her injured teammate.

Green, who wears No. 3 for the Chippewas, showed her appreciation for the gesture minutes before tipoff against KSU.

Green is the second Chippewa to suffer a torn ACL this season. Sophomore forward Jewel Cotton was sidelined for the rest of 2014-15 with her own knee injury during the Chippewas competition in a nonconference tournament in Las Vegas on Nov. 28.

The Chippewas defeated Kent State 83-62.
