Postseason aspirations were stiffled this afternoon when field hockey picked up their 14th loss on the season in a 5-0 loss to Miami.

Miami now sits atop the Mid-American Conference with a 4-1 MAC record. Central Michigan falls to 1-14 on the year and 1-4 in the MAC. The Chippewas needed to win today to have any shot at competing in the MAC tournament.

CMU played a tough first period, with senior Sadie Lynn Reynolds stopping six shots and allowing only one goal.

The RedHawk offense took over in the second half with a goal four minutes after the start of play by forward Angela Amon.

Miami would go on to score three more unanswered goals before winning 5-0. CMU had only one shot on goal to Miami’s 21. Reynolds would finish with 15 saves on the day.

The Chippewas now travel south to Kentucky to play Louisville in a nonconference match Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
