Snow related campus accidents on Feb. 24

There were five car accidents and one slip-and-fall incident that happened on campus yesterday, Feb. 24, said Central Michigan University Police Lt. Cameron Wassman.

The slip and fall occurred in front of Finch Fieldhouse with someone who lived off-campus, Wassman said. It is unknown if the person was a student or not. They were taken to hospital after they fell.

None of the five car accidents resulted in someone being taken to the hospital. One of them happened in a parking lot.

"I expected to see a lot more accidents due to the weather," Wassman said.

Safe Rides did not offer services last night due to road conditions, Wassman said.

"Some people might say it makes sense to keep running Safe Rides so students don't slip and fall," Wassman said.

From a liability standpoint, it makes sense to cancel Safe Rides when weather is bad, he said.

Wassman said he isn't involved with deciding to call off school, but he said he thought it was probably a smart decision.
