Halvorson named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week

Central Michigan’s Logan Halvorson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Chippewa defense in back-to-back victories.

The CMU defense allowed only 10 goals in their two home games last weekend.

Halvorson, a freshman midfielder, picked up three ground balls and had one draw control Friday in CMU’s 19-5 win over Delaware State. She scored four points offensively on three goals and one assist.

On Sunday, she helped hold Virginia Commonwealth to a season-low seven shots and five goals. The Rams were forced into a season-high 27 turnovers, with Halvorson causing four in CMU's 6-5 victory. She also collected four ground balls.

Halvorson is the second Chippewa to earn the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award. Midfielder Jocelyn Lemay earned the award on Feb. 23 after CMU’s 16-4 victory at Gardner-Webb.

CMU is now 3-2 in their first season as a varsity program. The Chippewas travel to Milwaukee on March 19 to face Marquette (2-5).
