CMU football releases depth chart for season opener


The Central Michigan football team released its starting depth chart Wednesday one day ahead of its season opener against Football Championship Subdivision team Presbyterian at 7 p.m. at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. 

Not many positions will have new faces as the Chippewas return the majority of starters on both sides of the ball from last season. 

On offense, junior Devon Spalding will get the nod at running back, and on defense replacing former Chippewa and current Dallas Cowboy safety Kavon Frazier will be senior Winslow Chapman. 

Below is a complete list of the starters for Thursday's season opener: 

Offense

Quarterback: Cooper Rush, Sr.

Running back: Devon Spalding, Jr.

Fullback: Joe Bacci, Sr. 

Tight End: Jonathan Carson, So. 

Wide Receivers: Jesse Kroll, Sr., Mark Chapman, Jr. 

Center: Austin Doan, Jr. 

Guards: J.P. Quinn, Jr. or Kenny Rogers, Sr. 

Tackles: Derek Edwards, Jr., Joe Austin, Jr. 

Defense

Defensive Ends: Mitch Stanitzek, Jr., Joe Ostman, Jr. 

Defensive Tackle: Jabari Dean, Sr. 

Nose Tackle: Kelby Latta, Sr. 

Linebackers: Nathan Ricketts, Sr., Malik Fountain, So., Alex Briones, So. 

Safeties: Winslow Chapman, Sr., Tony Annese, Sr. 

Cornerbacks: Josh Cox, Jr., Amari Coleman, Jr.
