Senior CMU goalkeeper earns MAC honors for third time this season

Central Michigan senior goalkeeper Kristen Knutson was named the Mid-American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. It's the third time she has earned the award this season. 

The Eagan, Minnesota native had two shutouts over the weekend — one against Miami (OH) on Friday and the other against Ball State on Sunday. The Chippewas (10-1-1, 2-2-1 MAC) defeated the RedHawks 1-0 in double overtime and tied the Cardinals 0-0. 

Knutson has recorded six shutouts this season and averages 0.67 goals against through 12 games. 

She previously won the award on Aug. 30 and Sept. 20. 

The Chippewas head to Toledo on Thursday to play the Rockets at 4 p.m.
