Gymnastics to host Excite Night on Friday

Central Michigan gymnastics is still more than a month away from beginning its season, fans can get a glimpse of the team at 7 p.m. on Friday at McGuirk Arena. 

CMU Gymnastics Excite Night will feature an open demonstration of events from the student-athletes with commentary from Head Coach Jerry Reighard explaining different techniques.

The event will feature a t-shirt giveaway, autograph signing and a dance-off with members of the team.

The Chippewas won their first regular season Mid-American Conference title last season since 2012, but came up just short of a sixth consecutive MAC Championship.

The team went into the NCAA Regional Meet last season ranked 21st in the country placed and placed third out of six teams at Ohio State’s St. John Arena. They finished with a team score of 195.925, the second-best regional total in CMU history.

The team opens the season Jan. 3 at McGuirk Arena against Temple.
