Central Michigan lacrosse falls to Robert Morris 19-14 in third home game


Central Michigan lacrosse played their third home game Sunday, falling to Robert Morris in the second half.

Midfielder Jocelyn Lemay led the Chippewas with five goals on six shots. Summer Abdalla scored four times. She scored her ninth goal of the season with 25 seconds to play.

Midfielder Logan Halvorson led the defense, picking up five ground balls.

Lemay has 17 goals in 2016 while Halvorson and goalkeeper Dominique Hamman each lead CMU, picking up 20 ground balls.

RMU led the Chippewas 6-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game. Lemay scored the first goal for CMU at 20:03, assisted by midfielder Auguste Jepsen. Abdalla added two points for CMU in the first half.

Halvorson and midfielders Natalie Bloniarz and Sydney Wright each had a goal in the first half. Lemay scored the last goal of the half with three minutes left. The Chippewas were down two going into the second half.

Bloniarz, Lemay and Abdalla each scored to put the Chippewas in the lead. Halvorson scored at 21:20, making it 12-10.

RMU came back with three goals in a row. Lemay added her 17th goal of the season at 15:58, assisted by Anna Schoonover, her sixth assist overall in the 2016 season.

The score was tied again at 13-13 for three minutes. RMU responded six goals, two from junior Katie Breeze.

The Chippewas are 3-4 and have yet to play a team in their conference. Their Atlantic Sun opener is Wednesday at Detroit. The Titans beat RMU 5-4 on Friday, improving Detroit's record to 4-4.
