The CMU Chippewas celebrate a point scored at the CMU Volleyball game against Eastern on Nov. 9 at McGuirk Arena.

After five of its final seven matches, Central Michigan volleyball qualified for its first Mid-American Conference Tournament since 2012.

The 2017 MAC Tournament will be held at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio on the campus of Miami (Ohio).

The Chippewas will compete as the No. 7 seed and open play at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. The Chippewas will see a familiar foe to start their quest for a MAC title, No. 6 seeded Western Michigan.

The Broncos knocked off CMU in its last MAC tournament clash in four sets. WMU took the first matchup of the 2017 season in Kalamazoo 3-1 in Sept. 29, while the Chippewas swept the Broncos 3-0 on Nov. 4 in McGuirk Arena.

The Broncos (15-12, 8-8 in the MAC) will rely on outside hitters Rachel Bontrager and Sydney LeMay, who combined for 679 kills and 50 aces this season. WMU closed the regular season losing five of their last six matches.

CMU (15-13, 7-9) will look for strong play from its seniors to keep the 2017 season alive. Jordan Bueter leads the team with 416 kills and 39 aces. Paige Carey and Taylor Robertson have combined for 388 kills and 148 blocks.

The winner of Thursday’s matchup will face No. 3 Ball State Friday night at 7 p.m., with all matches available on ESPN3.
