Central Michigan senior Sara Hansen has been named the Mid-American Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Hansen, a native of Mount Pleasant, was second in the lineup and led the team with eight hits, including five extra base hits. Two of those extra base hits came April 6 in game one of the double-header against Ohio when she had an RBI triple and a two-run double.

Hansen had a .571 average (8-for-14) and a .625 on-base percentage for the week. She scored six runs to go along with five RBIs.

The Chippewa center fielder is now batting .288 for the season with 10 RBIs and four stolen bases.

Hansen helped CMU (16-18-1,7-3-1 in MAC) climb up the standings as they now sit second in the MAC, behind only Kent State (16-18, 6-3 in MAC).

The Chippewas will need Hansen to continue to perform at a high level as they look to extend their four-game winning steak at 4 p.m. on April 9 at Margo Jonker Stadium when they take on Michigan State. Following that  game CMU will travel to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan at 2 p.m. on April 10.
