Andrew Ward's playing days are over at Central Michigan.

The sophomore linebacker suffered an undisclosed career-ending injury.

First-year coach Jim McElwain shared the information of Ward's injury on Wednesday during the weekly Coach Mac Show, a radio show hosted by Don Chiodo.

McElwain said on the show that he found out the extent of Ward's injury just prior to going on the air.

CMU Athletics has not yet responded to a request for comment regarding Ward's injury.

Prior to his time at CMU, Ward spent his freshman season at Nebraska and took a redshirt. In 2018, Ward recorded one tackle in nine appearances, six of which he started.

Ward had 14 tackles and two sacks on the season prior to his injury.
