Jonathan Ward earns weekly conference honor

Jonathan Ward has been named Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the Mid-American Conference West Division.

A senior from Kankakee, Illinois, Ward had 205 yards from scrimmage as CMU racked up a season-high 587 yards in its 42-16 win over Eastern Michigan.

Ward ran for 132 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns, including an 86-yarder in the third quarter. He also totaled 73 yards receiving in three catches and one touchdown, a 64-yarder in the second quarter.

Ball State running back Caleb Huntley was the other recipient of the West Division Player of the Week award. He had 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Cardinals defeated Northern Illinois, 27-20. 

The Chippewas are now 3-3 overall and 2-1 in MAC play. They host New Mexico State for homecoming at 3 p.m. Oct. 12  at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
