A Central Alert was sent out tonight notifying students to a report of gunshots at Kulhavi Hall.

Central Michigan University Police Department officers quickly determined the report to be unfounded and no threat to CMU.

CMUPD Communications, Compliance and Administration Lieutenant Cameron Wassman said someone called 911 after they heard loud bangs coming from within the residence hall.

"Officers responded immediately and quickly determined the sound was actually someone using a hammer to assemble furniture," an email from CMUPD read.

The email also reminded people to report suspicious activities toCMUPD. The department can be reached at 989-774-3081 or by calling 911 in the event of an emergency.
