Crowds of people explore the offerings of MainStage on Aug. 26, 2018 at CMU.

Similar to last semester, Spring 2021 Mainstage will be held virtually due to the precautions surrounding COVID-19 and the start of the semester. The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 24.

The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 17 but rescheduled to allow more RSOs to sign up for the event, according to an email sent to registered participants.

Despite the date change, Interim Director of the Office of Student Activities and Involvement (SAI) Dani Rossman said she expects about 1,000 students to attend.

"With students moving in a little later than originally planned, it now won't be the day they move back in. They'll have a week to get settled into their residence halls," Rossman said.

After students participate, they'll be invited to the SAI office to pick up a bag of free merchandise. Rossman said several local businesses contributed items to replicate the give-aways students would normally receive at an in-person Mainstage.

Students can RSVP using Engage Central and participate in five virtual rooms that house different offices and organizations.

The five rooms include:

  • Offices and Departments
  • Academic and Professional Organizations
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life
  • Club Sports and E-Sports
  • Student Organizations
