Mount Pleasant to host a 'Christmas Celebration' Dec. 3-4

Students and members of the community enjoy the lighted displays and warming booths with hot chocolate and cookies, set up throughout town, during the second evening of Mount Pleasant's town Christmas celebration, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.

Following almost three decades of community tradition, Mount Pleasant will be hosting a Christmas Celebration Dec. 3-4.

The festivities will begin on Friday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. at Town Center with a variety of events.

These include the Winter Market with specialty crafts and food vendors, Candy Cane Lane with children’s games and activities, a Community Sing-Along, Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas light hayride tours.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department and Toys for Tots are going to “Cram-A-Cruiser” with new, unopened, unwrapped toys from 5 -8 p.m. to let children get an up-close look at a police cruiser while adding the toy drive.

Saturday, Dec. 4 will start with a Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, 5K and 5 Mile Run that begins at 7:50, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m. Following the run, there will be a pancake breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

In the evening, the lighted parade through downtown will start at 6 p.m. Essential/frontline workers will be this year’s Parade Grand Marshal. The night will end with holiday fireworks viewed from downtown after the parade.
