Richardson named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week
Quarterback Daniel Richardson earned some recognition on the heels of a career performance in Central Michigan’s loss to Oklahoma State.
The sophomore signal-caller was named Mid-American West Division Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Richardson completed 36 of his 49 pass attempts for 424 yards and four touchdowns.
All three marks of attempts, completions and passing yards were career highs for Richardson, who has made 10 career starts. Additionally, his four touchdowns tied a career-high, which he initially set in CMU’s 54-30 win over Kent State last season.
While he looked sharp, Richardson’s late-game performance truly shined through, as three of his four touchdowns came in the second half.
Early in the third quarter, the Chippewas found themselves down 51-15, the largest deficit of the game. However, Richardson led the charge, narrowing the gap from 36 to just 14.
Richardson and the rest of the Chips will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10, for CMU’s 2022 home-opener against Bucknell. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
