On Tuesday March 28, Central Michigan University Subject Librarians Shu Guo and Rebecca Renirie will be hosting a workshop to help teach CMU students how to navigate the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Xplore digital library.

The workshop will take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Park Library in room 209 where librarians Guo and Renirie will give attendees an overview of the digital library through the lens of science and STEM, demonstrate its advanced features, and explain how the content may help them in their coursework and research.

According to Renirie, this digital library offers collections of engineering, computing and technology publications that include IEEE Society-sponsored transactions, journals and magazines, conference proceedings, and published IEEE standards.

Guo and Renirie will also demonstrate several ways to search IEEE Xplore’s database and introduce some of its features such as search alerts and help with publishing.

While technology and engineering students may already be familiar with IEEE Xplores’s database, Renirie said she hopes to introduce the resource to students in other fields.

“We hope to show that students in other areas such as chemistry, physics and the health sciences (they can) also find information within IEEE Xplore that will help them in their academic work,” she said.

Anyone hoping to attend the workshop does not need to register. Free pizza will be provided for those in attendance.
