Coming just a day after Central Michigan Athletics announced that Heather Oesterle will no longer be the head coach for CMU women’s basketball, sophomore guard Tiana Timpe announced that she will be entering the transfer portal.

Timpe announced her decision via Instagram on Friday.

In her first season with CMU, Timpe played in 25 games, starting in 15. She ranked third in the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game. With a strong outside presence, Timpe led the team in three-pointers with 60, averaging 2.4 per game.

However, in the 2022-23 season with the Chippewas, Timpe only averaged 15 minutes a game when in the previous year she averaged 28.7 minutes.

In her second year, Timpe averaged 2.6 points per game and she ranked third in three-pointers with 20.

Timpe is the second CMU women’s basketball player this week to announce that she is entering the portal as freshman guard Sydney Harris entered on Tuesday.

Along with Timpe and Harris, sophomore guard Lisa Tesson entered the transfer portal on March 29. Through her two years with CMU, Tesson averaged 3.9 points per game and 1.3 assists per game.

CMU women’s basketball ended the 2022-23 season 6-23 and 4-14 in conference play.
