Corbyn Munson earns MAC West Division Wrestler of the Week

Following a 5-0 weekend against Oklahoma and Michigan State, Central Michigan wrestling graduate student Corbyn Munson was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday. 

Munson earns this honor after defeating Willie McDouglad of Oklahoma on Thursday at home. He continued his success at the Michigan State Open pinning Grand Valley State’s Michael Merrit followed up by an 8-1 win over Wisconsin’s Aidan Medora. 

Finishing off at the Michigan State Open, Munson pinned Cameron Picklo from Oklahoma and No. 15 Joseph Zargo of Wisconsin declaring him champion in the 149-pound weight class.

Munson has earned this honor for the fourth time in his career. 

The Chippewas continue their completion on the road as they head to Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to take on North Carolina and Illinois beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
