I-Ride partnered up with WCFX 95.3 to put on its 33rd Annual Food for Fare drive this week as their way of giving back to the Isabella County community.

They will be collecting non-perishables as fare for their transportation services.

The Food for Fare opportunity starts Jan. 29 and will continue through the week til Feb. 1 during I-Ride business hours which are 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Carey Barker, lead transportation coordinator of I-Ride said passengers would bring a non-perishable food item equivalent to the normal fare pay.

“They would just simply board the bus and put the food in the bag and have a seat,” Barker said. “As the bags get full, we will take it to the Ric’s parking lot to load it in the Caravan of Care.”

Barker said donations will also be taken at Ric’s Food Center located at 705 S Mission St.

“Donations will be going to the William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center in Mount Pleasant,” she said.  “We’re pretty passionate about being involved in the community and continuing to do things like this.”
