CMU baseball lassoed by Cowboys, goes 0-3 in weekend series

CMU Baseball celebrates a 13-5 win in game one of a double header against Ball State on Saturday at Theunissen Stadium.

Central Michigan baseball was in Stillwater, Oklahoma this past weekend to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a three-game series.

The Chippewas fell in all three games as their overall record dropped to 3-9.

Game 1

In game one of the series, the Cowboys got out to a hot start scoring five runs off of three home runs in the first three innings.

CMU fought back scoring four runs in the next three innings, but failed to keep their momentum going after another Cowboys score in the seventh inning.

The game ended at 7-4 after the last two innings were scoreless.

Game 2

OSU got out to another hot start in game two of the series, scoring five runs in two innings including a home run that brought in three runners.

Central Michigan’s only score of the day came in the third inning off of an RBI from senior center fielder Jake Brill.

After another score from OSU in the seventh and two scoreless innings, the game ended at 8-1.

Game 3

In the final game of the series, the Chippewas got shut out. They couldn’t get anything going at the plate, getting struck out 13 times with only six hits on 32 trips.

The Cowboys had their third-straight fast start when they scored 10 runs in the first inning including two home runs.

They would not be stopped the rest of the way as they went on to score nine more times including two more home runs. The game ended with a final score of 19-0.

Central Michigan hopes to end its six-game losing streak on Tuesday when it travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play Oral Roberts in the first of a two-game series. The series starts at 7 p.m.
