CMU women's lacrosse falls on the road at Marquette
With less than two minutes left in the game between Central Michigan University and Marquette University. Marquette ahead of the game with a score of 18-6.

Central Michigan lost to Marquette on Friday, Feb. 13 with a score of 19-6.
This was the second game of the season for the Chippewas, with their first game at University of Notre Dame. CMU's lacrosse record has moved to 0-2.
"The team made a lot of improvements from game one on many areas and was very happy with our compete level in the first half," CMU Coach Emilia Ward said in a statement to CM-Life. "Biggest thing we want to improve on is nailing the little details for four quarters."
Marquette started the fourth quarter of the game with a goal by senior attacker Tess Osburn, with an assist from freshman attacker Dani Serrano.
CMU followed with midfield sophomore Caye Kalbacher winning the draw and running the ball towards goal. She scored the goal with an assist from junior attacker Anna Farrar.
With 12 minutes left in the third quarter, CMU attacker/midfielder sophomore Julia Werner winds up her shot to try for another goal. Marquette’s freshman goalkeeper Jillian Howell blocks the shot, marking her second save in the second half.
Marquette continues their shooting streak throughout the third quarter, with seven goals to bring the score to 14-5 Marquette.
CMU senior goalkeeper Leila Kahler had six saves in the first half of the game, one more than her seven total saves in the last game against Notre Dame.
"Leila really settled into the game late in the first quarter and in the second quarter," Ward said in a statement to CM-Life. "She made some great saves to give us a chance early."
This is Kahler’s first season as a starting goalie, after the previous goalie Alexa Martel graduated in 2025.
Kalbacher cuts in front of the crease with less than two minutes left in the second quarter. She sneaks the ball in to score a goal on Marquette's junior goalkeeper Mikayla Yang.
"I think this was Caye's best overall game of her young career so far," Ward said in a statement to CM-Life. "She was good in all three zones and huge on the draw circle for us."
Kalbacher had five draw controls throughout the game on Friday.
Two minutes left in the first quarter, freshman attacker Mia Bradley fights against the defense to pull through for a goal for Central Michigan. With the goal by the Chippewas, the score moved to 5-3 for Marquette. Bradley had her first goal of her collegiate goal of the season during the game.
"Was great to see Mia get her first today," Ward said in a statement to CM-Life. "I thought she was our most composed attacker in game one and she kept that today. We are excited to see where her growth continues as she gains experience."
The Chippewas next game will be on the road again at Northwestern University on Sunday, Feb. 15.
