A Night of Tango

Multicultural Academic Student Services and Central Bridge host A Night of Tango with Argentine Flutist Eduardo Tami on Thursday, Sept. 26, in the Chamichian Hall, School of Music Building. Tami taught attendees about the history of Argentine music and performed a concert accompanied by faculty and staff. The event was included in Central Michigan University's 2024 calendar for Hispanic Heritage Month. 

Soccer vs Akron

The Central Michigan Chippewas beat the Akron Zips 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the CMU Soccer Complex. They outshot their opponents 13-6 and improved to 3-4-2 on the season. 

Football vs. Ball State Action

Central Michigan won against Ball State on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Kelly/Shorts stadium with a final score of 37-34. The team finished with over 500 yards and nearly 10 yards per play. 

Football vs. Ball State Feature

Central Michigan faced Ball State for their conference opener on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. This game served as a Hall of Fame/Champions/Educators appreciation day with many students, faculty and alumni being honored at the game. 

Health and Human Service Expo

The second-ever Health and Human Services Expo was held Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Bovee University Center Rotunda. This event provided students with information on upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Fire Up the Vote

Several organizations at Central Michigan University set up tables for National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 17 outside Park Library. The event helped to inform students on voting and the process of registering for the upcoming November election. 

Study Abroad Fair

The annual Study Abroad Fair occurred at the Bovee University Center Rotunda on Tuesday, Sep.17. Attendants had the opportunity to learn about different destinations and program options.  

Rooftop Landing Reindeer Farm

Central Michigan Life Employees visit Rooftop Reindeer Farm, Saturday, Sept. 14 in Clare, MI. The farm is family-run and features various animals including highland cows, reindeers, alpacas, and a new sloth named Raini.  

Field Hockey vs University of Michigan

Central Michigan's women's field hockey team fell to No. 10 University of Michigan 11-0 on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor, MI. Senior goalkeeper Coletta Peeler had eight saves for CMU. The loss brings CMU's overall record to 3-4. 

Volleyball VS Green Bay

The Central Michigan volleyball team fell to Green Bay 2-3, Saturday, Sept. 14, in McGuirk Arena. Senior Krystina Kasson had a career-high 21 kills during the game.   

Field Hockey vs Colgate

The Central Michigan Field Hockey Team lost in overtime against the Colgate Raiders on Friday, Sept. 13, at Cristy Freese Field. Mallory Camryn scored her fourth goal of the season, now leading the MAC in both goals and shots on goal.  

Painting in Powers

Central Michigan University Program Board hosts Painting in Powers event on Thursday, Sept. 12, in Powers room 136. It was an evening full of watercolors and meeting new people. Attendees were provided with a variety of art materials, giving them the opportunity to explore their creativity and imagination.  

First Gen Mixer

The First Gen Mixer was held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the NIRSA Room in the Student Activity Center. This event was aimed at first-generation college students and parents. Guests had the opportunity to learn more about the support systems offered by the college. 

Soccer vs. UW-Green Bay

Central Michigan's women's soccer team lost to University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 1-0 Sunday, Sept. 8 in the CMU Soccer Complex. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Allison LaPoint made eight saves for the Chippewas and graduate student midfielder Claudia Muessig led the team with four shots. The loss brings the team's overall record to 1-4-1. 

Football vs. Central Connecticut Feature

GALLERY: The Central Michigan Chippewas defeated Central Connecticut 66-10 in the season opener Thursday, Aug. 29 in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The game marked the first time the two teams faced off and the first time in four years the Chippewas opened the season at home.

GALLERY: Central Michigan's football team defeated Central Connecticut 66-10 during their first game of the season on Thursday, Aug. 29 in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Redshirt junior quarterback Joey Labas was the game's passing leader with 18 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns. 

MainStage 2024

MainStage drew hundreds of students on Sunday, Aug. 25 on Franklin Street between Preston and Bellows. The annual event showcases the over 300 Registered Student Organizations at Central and encourages students to get involved. 

Soccer vs Cincinnati

The Central Michigan Soccer Team defeated the Cincinnati Soccer Team 2-1, Sunday, Aug. 25 in the CMU Soccer Complex. CMU senior midfielder Jocelin Zimmerer and CMU sophomore defender Caitlin Gill scored one goal each. 

Leadership Safari 2024

Central Michigan University hosts its 28th annual Leadership Safari Aug. 21 through 23. More than 1,000 new college students attended the Traditions event Thursday evening at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Leadership Safari is a three-day event where new students become familiar with campus living and build relationships. During Safari students participate in 'Traditions,' which allows them to learn cheers from the Marching Chips and meet players from CMU teams. (CM Life photos | Soli Gordon)

2024 Marching Chips drum major, color guard and drum line camp

More than 100 high school marching band leaders from across Michigan visited Central Michigan University July 5 through 12 for the 2024 Marching Chips drum major, color guard and drum line camp. The week-long camp had students working alongside professional musicians, musical educators and current members of the CMU marching bands to grow skills, increase their knowledge bases, and hone their problem-solving, team-building and leadership skills, camp organizers said. They showcased what they learned in an hour-long concert for supporters and friends Friday, July 12, at Jack Saunders Marching Band Field (CM Life staff photos).
