Passion Palooza

The Central Michigan University Public Service Residential College organized Passion Palooza to showcase passion projects created by freshmen students of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in Kulhavi Hall, Room 141, Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The students have been working on their passion projects all year and decided to showcase four during the event. The presentations were Social Determinants of Health, Preventing Abuse Against Men, Color Your Calm and ADHD: Facts Over Fiction. The theme of the event was travel with decorations hung about the room including paper airplanes, hand-drawn continents and fictional Disney settings.  

Origami Night

The Central Michigan University Multicultural Academic Student Services office held an origami night in Kulhavi Hall room 142, Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Students watched a presentation on the history of origami then were walked through how to make their own. Students could make a swan and butterfly with the help of an instructor and YouTube videos. 

Softball vs Western Michigan Doubleheader

The Central Michigan University softball team sweeps rival Western Michigan 13-0 and 8-0 during a doubleheader in Margo Jonker Stadium on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Sophomore outfielder Emma Lotus scored a total of 4 runs between the two games. The team prepares to travel to Miami (OH) for another doubleheader on Saturday, April 5, 2025. 

Lacrosse vs. Eastern Michigan

Central Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan 10-9 at the CMU Soccer Complex, Sunday, March 30, 2025. Central Michigan senior attack Skye DePrado led CMU with four goals and Central Michigan senior goalkeeper Alexa Martel recorded 11 saves. This is her seventh time this season with double digits saves. CMU moves to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in MAC play. Their next game is at Robert Morris on Saturday, April 5, 2025.  

Baseball vs Bowling Green

Central Michigan lost in extra innings 6-5 against Bowling Green at Keiltiz Field at Theunissen Stadium, Sunday, March 30, 2025. Central Michigan redshirt sophomore starting pitcher Jared Hanson had a strong performance, throwing six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. CMU would score four of their five runs in the second inning. Central Michigan junior outfielder Zach Knowlton, junior catcher Aydin Wright and sophomore infielder/outfielder Nathan Ball all doubled in the inning. CMU gave up three runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game. They would give up one run in the top of the 10th after a sac-fly from Bowling Green junior infielder Sam Seidel scored sophomore catcher Garret Wright. In the bottom of the 10th CMU had a runner on second with two outs and couldn’t bring them home. CMU falls to 10-18 overall and 5-4 in MAC play. Their next game is on the road against Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. 

36th Annual CMU “Celebrating Life” Powwow

The 36th Annual CMU “Celebrating Life” Powwow was held at McGuirk Arena on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The event had singing, dancing, arts and crafts and food vendors. Dancers, drummers and singers all competed in competitions. 

Baseball vs Bowling Green Doubleheader

The Central Michigan baseball team lost both games against Bowling Green during their doubleheader at Keiltiz Field at Theunissen Stadium, on Friday, March 28, 2025. In the first game, CMU found themselves in the hole down seven runs early. CMU would get two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to come within two. However, the comeback would fall short and CMU would lose 7-5. Central Michigan freshman infielder/pitcher Cayden Smith and junior infielder Aaron Piasecki each recorded three hits in the contest. The next game started slowly as the Chippewas couldn't find a way to get on base. Bowling Green freshman starting pitcher Carrson Sova was in complete control, striking out eight and allowing three hits through six innings of work. Central Michigan redshirt junior pitcher/infielder/outfielder AJ Kostic gave up four runs in 4.2 innings. In relief redshirt junior pitcher Liam Stumpf allowed no runs through 4.1 innings. CMU would not go down easy, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Down by one run in the ninth CMU couldn't capitalize with a runner on first and lost 4-3.

On March 18, Central Michigan Life and Central Michigan University's Society of Professional Journalists chapter hosted a panel discussion on the importance of free and independent journalism in a democracy. Beyond the Page: Asian Voices in Literature

The Central Michigan University Multicultural Academic Student Services office held a Beyond the Page: Asian Voices in Literature event in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium, Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The event started with a presentation by seniors Lindsey Nguyen and Shreya Abraham that highlighted the history of Asian authors, some stereotypes they go through and some well known books that people might not know were written by Asian authors. A scavenger hunt followed and the winner got to choose from from five different books that were written by Asian authors as a prize.  

Baseball vs Grace Christian University

The Central Michigan University mens baseball team defeats Grace Christian University with a miraculous 26-1 point score with sophomore infielder Bryson Webb earning two home runs in Theunissen Stadium on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The team will host the conference home opener in Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium for a three-game series against Bowling Green starting at 3 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025. 

Clarke Speaker Series: Michigan Railway Company

Railway historian Norman Krentel visits Central Michigan University to talk about the history of Michigan's electric railways in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium, Monday, March 24, 2025. Krentel showed an in-depth map of the railways and also explained how and why some of the trains came to be. Krentel is the author of "Michigan Railway Company: The Northern and Southern Divisions" that explains everything he knows about the state's railway systems.  

Holi Ke Rang

Attendees gather to celebrate Holi in the Student Activity Center, on Sunday, March 23, 2025. The festival of colors encouraged tossing vibrant powders into the air and embracing the spirit of unity. Sponsored by the Multicultural Academic Student Services and put together by Chamakta Central, the event brought the community together, highlighting the cultural significance of Holi.  

Gymnastics MAC Championships

The Central Michigan gymnastics team was crowned Mid-American Conference champions at McGuirk Arena, on Saturday, March 22, 2025. This was their third title in four years and 19th in the program's history. Five CMU gymnasts would make the MAC Gymnastics All-Tournament Team including junior Luciana Alvarado-Reid, senior Hannah Appleget and freshman Zoe Zimmerman. Alvarado-Reid was the MAC Gymnastics event winner on the floor (9.925) and Appleget was the event winner for all-around (39.250). Alvarado-Reid would also secure the MAC Gymnast of the Year as CMU looks toward NCAA Regional invitations. 

Softball vs Akron Doubleheader

The Central Michigan softball team swept Akron during their doubleheader at Margo Jonker Stadium, Friday, March 21, 2025. With the first game being a long and dreadful 16-15 walk-off and coming off the field to win 9-6 in the second. The Chippewas performance led them to 10-15 for the season and 3-2 in conference play. The Michigan State Spartans can look forward to seeing the Chippewas for their next game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in Secchia Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan.

Fire Up All Night: In It to Win It

Fire Up All Night: In It to Win It turned the Student Activity Center into a late-night entertainment session, running from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025. Hosted by NPHC, MGC, and the MASS Office, the event featured a variety of activities, including open gym, painting and a lively karaoke session. With the gym being open for any attendees to enjoy, the night offered a mix of competition, music and community fun.

Finch Fieldhouse 75th Anniversary

Central Michigan University hosts the 75th Anniversary Celebration of Finch Fieldhouse in Finch Fieldhouse, Saturday, March 22, 2025. Everyone from current students to alumni, faculty, staff and community members came together to discover the building's fascinating history and its ongoing influence. Guests had the chance to check out a life-size historical timeline, interactive exhibits, a photo booth, giveaways and more fun activities. This celebration is a way for CMU to pay tribute to Finch Fieldhouse, which has transitioned from an athletic venue to a dynamic space for education, recreation, and community connection.

Flower Bouquet Making

Central Michigan University Program Board celebrates National Flower Day with Flower Bouquet Making in Wightman 200, Friday, March 21, 2025. Attendees got to choose from a variety of florals offered by Mt. Pleasant's 3 Wishes Floral and Design Studio. The event provided a creative and relaxing atmosphere allowing participants to create and have fun. 

Ramadan Halaqa

Central Michigan's Muslim Student Association held a Ramadan Halaqa event at the University Center Terrace Rooms, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The event gave attendees the chance to break their fast together, engage in spiritual discussion and eat an iftar meal. Central Michigan alumni Munif Hakim led prayers and spoke about the importance of Ramadan.

Kimberly Chapman Artist Reception

Kimberly Chapman presented her "Eighty-Six Reasons for Asylum Admission" art exhibit in the Baber Room Gallery in the Central Michigan University Library, Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The exhibit follows why women were commonly admitted into mental asylums in the 1800's. She shows the terrible things women had to go through with her art and the challenges they have faced. "It was a way for men to take outspoken wives or daughters and just put them away and forget about them," Chapman said.  

Keynote Speaker: Simon Tam and Joe Xiang

Central Michigan University hosts Simon Tam and Joe Xiang during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in Plachta Auditorium on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Tam tells his story of growing up and his journey to starting a punk rock band including the struggle to get the band name trademarked and how he overcame it.
