Central Michigan University Parking Services announced new changes to campus lots implemented immediately.

In an email to the CMU community on April 13, Parking Services announced the removal of parking meters in many on-campus lots. The designated meter spots have been turned into Pango parking spaces.

"With Pango, you can park and Pay-by-Phone quickly and easily using your iPhone, Blackberry, Android Phone or any other cell phone and customize your Pango account to suit your needs," CMU Parking Services' website reads. "Before your parking time expires, you will receive a text message so you can get back to your car or extend your parking time."

Meters in Lot 3 and Lot 32 are going to be removed and converted to Pango spaces.

With Pango, students pay $0.50 per session and will receive a personal reminder when it is time to return to their vehicle or pay another fee to extend parking time.

Campus parking changes include:

  • Lot 3 - Meters removed and converted to Pango (signed mobile pay designated spaces only)
  • Lot 13 - Meters removed from East Campus Drive and converted to faculty/staff permit parking
  • Lot 32 - Meters removed and converted to Pango (signed mobile pay designated spaces only)
  • Lot 33N - Meters removed and converted to commuter permit parking
  • Lot 33S - All meters removed and some Pango spaces (signed mobile pay designated spaces only) have been added
