No Kings 2.0 -- Mount Pleasant and Lansing

In nearly 100 locations across the state of Michigan, demonstrators gathered at No Kings rallies on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025. No Kings was a nationwide day of defiance against the Trump administration, fueled by recent ICE raids and cuts to healthcare, education and environmental regulations.


In Mount Pleasant, hundreds of protestors lined Mission Street in a rally organized by Indivisible Central Michigan. College students and community members alike displayed handmade signs and participated in chants to show their disagreement with current policies. Thousands filled the lawn of the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, where speakers addressed topics such as disability rights and access to healthcare. 


"We've gotta stand up," Lansing protestor Steve Purchase said. "There's nothing more American than speaking out against injustice and tyranny and all the rest."

Volleyball vs. Akron

The Central Michigan University volleyball team swept Akron 3-0 at McGuirk Arena on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. CMU ended game one of the weekend against Akron with 56 kills, five aces, eight blocks, 50 assists and 54 digs. 

Glow in the Park 5K

The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department hosts the Glow in the Park 5K across the City park system, Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. The event was for all ages and the estimated 200 people who ran were given glow gear.   

Keep ICE Out Protest

Central Michigan Students for a Democratic Society hosts a "Keep ICE Out" protest outside Warriner Hall, Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. Students gathered and marched from the CMU seal to Fabiano Gardens while chanting.

Soccer vs. Kent State

The Central Michigan Women’s Soccer Team tied Kent State University 1-1 with goals from the Chippewas' freshman forward Jimena Perez Ayala and the Golden Flashes' junior forward Josie Morgan at the CMU Soccer Complex, Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025. Both teams ended the game with 10 fouls each. 

Tortilla Making Night

Central Michigan's Chapter of Prospanica, the Association of Hispanic Professionals, and the Multicultural Academic Student Services (MASS) Office hosts the Annual Tortilla Making Event in The Allen Foundation Culinary Nutrition Center, Wightman Hall 110, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, President of Prospanica Cynthia Sanjuan Huerta, said, “We’re able to share our culture with other people through events like this." 

D1 Men's Hockey vs. Rochester Christian

The Central Michigan University D1 hockey team fell 11-8 against Rochester Christian University at Martin Ice Arena, on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. The team will head to Mount Clemens on Saturday to face Rochester Christian once again.

Field Hockey vs. Appalachian State

Central Michigan battled hard but fell 4-0 to Appalachian State at Cristy Freese Field on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Appalachian State’s offense was led by Kate Richardson, who scored twice, while Samantha Connors and Sophia Baxter each added a goal. The team will head to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami (OH), on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. 

Baseball vs. Northwood University

The Central Michigan University baseball team defeated Northwood University 9-0 at Theunissen Stadium on Friday, Oct.10, 2025. Six of the nine runs were scored in two innings. The team will host Niagara for one more fall game on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025. 

Ballet Folklorico de la Luz Fall 2025 Showcase

The Central Michigan Ballet Folklorico de la Luz, hosts its Fall Showcase at 6 p.m. in the Townsend Kiva of Moore Hall, Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Dancers flowed elegantly in vibrant outfits, bringing life and beauty into the show. Ballet Folklorico is a classic Mexican dance styles that fuses ballet with various regional folk dances from throughout Mexico, expressing narratives of history, culture and indigenous traditions.

Banned Book Read In

The Central Michigan RSO Indivisible CMU and academic fraternity Sigma Tau Delta hosts its first Banned Book Read In on the Park Library West Lawn, Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Participants were encouraged to bring a blanket or comfy chair, snacks and a banned book or borrow one from the library. Books were also provided to "adopt" from Sigma Tau Delta with a piece of paper taped onto the cover giving a reason why the book was banned. 

All Major Career Fair

Central Michigan University hosted the All Major Career Fair in Finch Field House on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Students could bring a resume and were given a chance to talk to representatives from different companies for internship and career opportunties. There was a backdrop set up for free headshots students could take with their phones. Food was provided and there were 750-900 students who showed up. 

Volleyball vs. Eastern Michigan University

The Central Michigan university volleyball team sweeps Eastern University 3-0 at McGuirk Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 7 ,2025. Natalia Rejment lead with nine kills. The team will head to face Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. 

Volleyball vs. Bowling Green

The Central Michigan volleyball team lost to Bowling Green State University 3-0 at McGuirk Arena, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. The Chippewas finished with a total of 37 kills and the Falcons finished with 36. The team will be back in McGuirk Arena on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to face Eastern Michigan University.

First Responder 5K

Servpro of Mount Pleasant, Clare and Houghton Lake hosts its second annual First Responder 5K at Island Park, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. Runners enjoyed coffee, snacks and donuts before they took their mark at 9:30 a.m. All proceeds from the event benefit the Isabella County Fire Responders Fund, which supports essential programs for local fire departments and fire responders. Runners and walkers followed a scenic route through Mount Pleasant parks and trails, finishing with a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. The Mount Pleasant MMR and Fire Department brought their vehicles and equipment for tours of the trucks for the little ones. With 45 runners, every detail of the event reflected community spirit and appreciation. 

Softball vs. Lansing Community College

The Central Michigan Softball Team destroyed the Lansing Community College Stars, during their pre-season matchup at Margo Jonker Stadium, Friday, Oct. 3, 2025.

Men's D1 Hockey vs. Toledo

The Central Michigan men’s D1 hockey team lost against the University of Toledo 5-1 at Martin Ice Arena on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025. 

Soccer vs. Northern Illinois

The Central Michigan soccer team falls short 1-0 against Northern Illinois in the CMU Soccer Complex on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025. Northern Illinois senior defender Aubrey Robertson scored the only goal of the game, assisted by freshman defender Elle Wainscott. The CMU soccer team will face off against Massachusetts at home Sunday, Oct. 5. 

Garba Night

Chamakta Central of Central Michigan University hosts its third annual Garba Night in the Student Activity Center, Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025. Chamakta Central is an Indian cultural dance team on campus that started with three e-board members and now has thirteen. CMU senior Bhuvi Pundir, president of Chamakta Central, describes Garba Night as a "festival of community and sense of belonging."

Field Hockey vs. Ohio University

Central Michigan University field hockey defeats Ohio University 5-4 in a 10-minute overtime at Cristy Freese Field on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. Senior forward Mallory Camryn scored a total of three goals, with senior forward/midfielder Amelia Lane and junior midfielder both scoring one. The field hockey team will head to Amherst, Massachusetts, on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, to face the University of Massachusetts Minutemen.
