Derby Days Pageant

Sigma Chi held a pageant at Broadway Theatre as a part of its Derby Days events. Members of sororitys competed in talent, formal wear, and Q&A segments throughout the evening. Top finishers were Detla Zeta and Phi Mu. Sigma Kappa took home first place.

CMU vs. Akron

The Chippewas topped the Akron Zips 14-6 on Oct. 31, 2015 thanks to a strong defensive effort. CMU moves to 5-4 and 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference with the victory.

The Central Michigan University Rugby Rebels

The Central Michigan University Rugby Rebels are a club sport, but relationships between teammates are just as strong as any varsity team, said Ohio senior Ally “Sonic” Gryczewski.

“I know that no matter what, we always have each others back,” she said. “We’re like the island of misfit toys. Everyone is super accepting and supportive.”

The sport gives women an opportunity to play a full contact club sport. This year, the Rebels will competed in the Mid-American Conference Women’s Rugby Conference against Ohio University, Ball State, Miami University, Kent State and Bowling Green State University. The Rebels finished their fall competitive schedule last weekend against Davenport University, ending the season with a 3-3 record.

CMU vs. Ball State

The Central Michigan football team traveled to Muncie, Indiana Oct. 24, 2015 to play Ball State. The Chippewas defeated the Cardinals 23-21 to move to 4-4 and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

Cosplay Cafe

Asian Cultural Organization and Cosplay Club hosted their annual event 'Cosplay Cafe,' on Thursday Oct. 22, 2015. The event offeredCMU students the chance to enjoy food served by organization members dressed in cosplay costumes.

National Day on Writing

The Writing Circle celebrated National Day on Writing with chalking, a nine hour writing marathon and thought banner in the Writing Center on Oct. 20, 2015.

Mt. Pleasant's Haunted Yard

Central Michigan University students and Mount Pleasant residents filled the yard of 814 N. Lansing St. for the annual Haunted Yard event on Oct. 16 and 17. Donations from the event benefitted Central Michigan student organizations and local charities.

Central Michigan’s football team wasted no time dismantling Buffalo 51-14 on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 in Kelly/Shorts Stadium, scoring its most points since 2010.

"Gender" at the University Art Gallery

Thursday evening was the opening of "Gender," a show held at the university Art Gallery, featuring work by multiple artists examining gender identity. The event will be open to the public through Nov. 14, 2015.

No. 2 Michigan State pulled away in the fourth quarter Saturday, Sept. 26 to take down the Chippewas 30-10 in front of 75,218 people at Spartan Stadium.

Bonsai Show

The Bonsai Club hosted their annual bonsai show in the CMU Fabiano Botanical Garden Pavillion. Community members and students stopped by to observe young plants and highly refined bonsai. Bonsai club members were around to answer any questions. In addition, people could watch live demonstrations and view a variety of trees.

8th Annual Art from our Parks

Community members gathered at Deerfield Nature Park for the 8th annual Art from our Parks event. Arts and craft tables were set up for the children. Local artists had the opportunity to share their talents to the community.

Sorority Jump 2015

Women gathered at Kelly/Shorts Stadium to complete the sorority recruitment process. New members jumped off the stage and ran to their new sisters. Gamma Chi's, who were the guides to help new members, jumped off the stage as well to be reunited and rejoin their chapters. Afterwords, sororities went to their houses for pictures and sisterhood bonding.
